I got my crim theory midterm back today. I got a 94%!! Woohoo! I finished writing my women and law midterm. I think I did well enough on it. I've had the professor before and she isn't to rigid in her marking, unlike some professors (Dawne Clarke comes to mind). I'm really glad that I don't have to work this month. I have my midterm due tomorrow, then I have to work on a critical ananlysis and an essay. Then after that I have a book review to do and study for another midterm. I also have to do a participant observation in there somewhere. Get this, this is for my research methods class, and we have to go somewhere public, no to busy though (cause we can't watch everyone), and observe a person or small group of people for a full hour. We have to note everything about them, how they are dressed, what they are doing, how they appear to be (upset, happy, angry, confused, etc.) . I don't know about any of you, but if I were out somewhere and I seen someone off in a corner watching me and taking notes, I'd be really creeped out, I wouldn't stick around for an hour!! But she thinks this is a feasible assignment, so I'll do my best. Then after that I have a final assignment to work on for a class. I also have to book a time for Anne and I to go get our pictures done and work alot to make up my hours for this month. I think I'll call them right now. We are going to go get our hair done as well. It should be a good day. I better get off the computer though, I've been using it all day today to work on my midterm and now writing a blog, Sam is probably getting pretty ancy waiting to use the computer. I think he's over there burning something right now........ooooo.....that's not good......write later...

I skipped my second class so that I could study for my reserch methods midterm. It is my third class of the day and they are right in a row. My professor is such a nut. Tuesday when someone brought up our midterm and asked about the format and what would we would be resposible for. She said "oh, well I haven't written it yet and I never do reviews, then gave us a vague idea of what the format might be." She expects awesome projects, papers, and tests, from the class but never tells us what she wants- she just gives these vague explanantions of what she wants and then chooses to waste the entire next class talking about all the mistakes that the class made. I think I've studied what I need to, but who knows with her. I figured I'd write a quick blog before I study again. The class isn't until 1pm. Tonight is our movie night, Anne, Jackie and I are going to go see the movie flicka (I think). I do believe that we are also going to hang out for a bit either before or after the movie. It should be alot of fun. I worked last night, made 5 sales, studied, and took calls. I am a great multi tasker!! :) I think I'll start doing that more often, instead of just reading novels at work I'll read texts and class notes. I think it will be nice when I'm all graduated and done with school for awhile anyways. I might take something at community college in a couple years, maybe a human resources program or something. But for the time being I'm just looking forward to graduating. I think I'll check online at the government website to see if there are any new job opportunities for upcoming graduates. They put new ones out all the time (I think). Anyway gotta chekc my emails and get back to studying, write later....

Hey!! I slept in today and I'm feeling great. So....I went to go meet my seminar group at 12pm this afternoon and no one was there. None of them. I had actually written to a guy in my group that I was goint ot be 15-20mins late and to let the other group members know. He said he would. I don't know why he would say that he would if we weren't going to meet?! But whatever! I think we are going to meet before our presentation in front of tim horton's, but I can't get ahold of anyone, cause we only exchanged email addresses and not actual phone numbers. I'm done my part of the project and I worked really hard on my part. I really hope that the others pull their own weight. I would hate to get a worse grade just because they didn't do their parts. One guy said that he wanted to tell the class that he welcomed their input and wanted an open discussion of ideas. I said that it was a good idea, but now that I've worked with him, I think it's just because he doesn't want to prepare much and is hoping a discussion will make up for his slacking. Oh well, at least this will be my last year of having to do 'group projects'. If I have a job where group things are a part I'm sure it would be facilitated to each member who is responsible for what, and they would be judged on completion of their own task. I'm hoping. I wonder if my crim theory professor will have any of the midterms marked by tomorrow. I'm hoping he will, it would be nice to get back a good grade (I think) before going to present something in front of people. I just checked my email account, still nothing from the people I emailed. Whatever....come to think of it I also have a group project to do in my gender studies class. One girl in my group is so mean and bitter about everything. She looks like there is something permanently foul smelling under her nose. She is so snobby. She kept talking about a project where she did all the work and her other group members did nothing.....wine...wine...wine....she probably wouldn't let anyone put in any ideas, she's such a control freak. I am not looking forward to trying to work with her. She said that she told the proff that the other group members did nothing, they got marked really bad and she got a really good grade. If she does anything like that with our group I'll go to the proff and tell her I don't want to work with her and would feel more comfortable doing my own project, with no other members. This group work thing, is just a bullshit way for professors to have to mark less!! That's all it is, like we aren't paying enough to have our work evaluated independantly of others?! These group presentations seminar things are what we are doing for the rest of the year, with one book review. (for my seminar class) Then, after my month of doing work for school, I have to make up hours at connect and somewhere in there I have to find time to do some christmas shopping!! Anyway gotta go do some readings.....write later.......

I just wrot emy criminological theory midterm and I did awesome!! I knew all the stuff that he asked us. I had studies like crazy las tnight. I worked Wednesday (read 5 articles for my gender studies class) and still mae 4 sales! Then I came home and printed off my interview, I was able to add more to it, when I listened to it over again there were a couple of words that I had missed and a couple of ummms....etc. Yesterday I went to class, handed in my portfolio to the proff and got ready to start discussing the 5 articles I had taken the time to read. Well it turned out that hardly anyone in the class had read them so she went off on a rant about something-work weeks and stuff in different countries (for the whole hour and 20 mins!!). I don't know what that has to do with womens and gender studies, but there must have been some kind of point in there that myself and many others missed. Whatever. Then I went to my women and law class. I had read the article for this class in the morning and before my gender studies class, I was prepared again. She asked how many people had read it, again only a few. So she taught the class as if we all hadn't read it and made it a complete waste of my time to have gotten up early and read it. Grr......Then I went to my research methods class, we handed in our interview transcripts. No one had 40-65 pages, she is on crack!! I had 15-16 pages, the other girl at my table had the dame and Rose (at the table) had 21. She handed back our research questions, bitched about how poorly everyone did, even though she didn't teach us how to do one before it was due, just expected we knew how. After her rant she spent the rest of that class bitching about the grammer mistakes that people had made. She even had a slide show presentation about the most common errors we had made!! (Instead of teaching us something about research methods!) She has a degree in English and is super anal about grammer, what ever....it's not an english class. I have her next semester for advanced research methods. I don't like her, but I don't want to switch and have a professor expect us to know a whole wack of stuff that she's never taught us. I came home after taht. I made myself a grilled cheese sandwich and studied some crim theory. I then went ot meet my seminar group to discuss what was going to be the order of our presentation and what kind of activities we would have the class do. (I was actually the person who found all of the activites, not to toot my own horn, but "toot toot!") :) We left at 8pm, cause I had to study and another guy had to go to a softball game. So I got home and studied from8ish to 9:30pm, gave mom a call, and watch CSI at 10pm. I didn't wuite feel like studying at 11pm, so I goofed around for a bit, but at about 11:45pm I started to go through all my notes again. At 1am Sam and I went to bed. I got up this morning at 9:30am, showered and got dressed, watched regis and kelly and studied for another hour. I work tonight, it shouldn't be to bad though, there are new leads and I'll bring the smutty romance novel Lisa lent me. Time goes by alot faster when I have something to read. I think Sam and I are gonna go to a movie tomorrow. I have to run it by him, but our certificate came in. (we cashed in some air miles) We get two admissions, two regular drinks, and a large popcorn. I don't work Saturday and I don't think he works to late. I don't know what movies are out though....hmmm.......any suggestions? I'll work on my part of the seminar on Saturday, and finish that up. Sunday we meet to put everything together and to a run through of the information, to make sure we have time for everything, or cut stuff if we don't etc. Monday we present and that's it. We have a book review in two weeks and that's it for the whole course, hardly anything!! Woohoo! I think mom and I have decided that her and Richard will pay for half of my drivers education as a christmas gift. I called first rate drivers education yesterday and they offer courses almost monthly at the high school. The total cost with taxes is $499. It includes 28 hrs in class, 11 hrs driving, and the test is included with the use of one of their cars. When I checked in May young drivers was $629+ tax! Actually my friend Jackie Thomas is taking it with them right now and she said it came to $740. First Rate has it on the weekends (4 Saturdays in a row), so that's pretty convenient and the high school is right next door. They have one November 18th, but I'm really busy and I'll be working in December, so I think that January would be the best time to take it. I told Jaymi the hours I need off for x-mas and my one exam and she reminded me that I can take my vacation pay, so I'll still have money coming in!! I completely forgot. Anyway gotta get ready for work....gotta catch my bus soon.....write later :)

So...I went into work last night and my supervisor wasn't working for some reason. That was o.k, I went to talk to Libby, the other night supervisro. I told her that I was finding the requirements for school to be difficult to handle as well as my committments at work. I told her that I was going to have to give my two weeks notice or we could figure something out. I told her that I have at least 2 things due every week in November, and not just little things, but stuff that's worth 25% of my final grade, and I didn't think I could work at all, or very little that month. We talked for a bit and she brought the night supervisor....manager....anyway he had a really long title and was in charge of alot of stuff over and we all talked for a bit. I told them that I could make up my hours in December, when alot less is due. (I only work 10 shifts every month) I can make that up in two weeks or less. So, I am allowed to take that month off from work!! How awesome is that?! I didn't want to quit and have to go get some minimum wage job of something for the little bit of time left until I graduate. Oh!! My supervisor brought me over for a performance review. She was very happy with my performance. I got 108% on my attendance (I go in early), I got a very good on my last monitoring session and the calls that she picked out and listened to she said I did great on all of them, maybe I could rebutt, but good. She said my sales were good, the numbers that she had were from the last quarter of the campaigns, she said that she knew I can make sales and not to worry about it. I only have one exam in December, so she asked my what I need off for exams and when I told her she said "oh...that's why you need November off". So she knoew I wasn't just trying to be slack or something. Anyway I gotta call Jackie and do my interview again...write later....p.s thanks for the encouragement Sue!! :)

I have decided to give my two weeks notice at connect. I'm pretty excited about my decision. It was just feeling like I didn't ever have any free time. Mondays I have a day and night class, Tuesdays I have 3 classes, (and have to do all the work for those classes right after class) because I have a class on Wednesday and work, then on Thurdays I have 3 classes again, do any other assignments and homework for those classes, Friday I have 1 class and work. Then every other Saturday I work 10am-6pm. I also have alot of group work this term and have to squeeze meetings in. I feel exhausted by Sundays (but still have school work to do). I have something due every single week in November, sometimes 2 things due. I'm going to offer to come back in December and make up my hours, cause I only work 10 shifts a month, so when I'm off during the holidays I can still make up the hours. If that isn't possible I'll just give my notice. If I ever wanted to wrok there again, it wouldn't be a problem. A guy in my traning class was on his 4th time being there!! :) I took a crime and the media class this summer past and I did a webpage on sexual assault and women's fear of it. The same topic I'm doing fo rmy interview, so I sent it to Jackie so she can have some news stories to talk about during our interview!! Your not supposed to give your interviewees anything, but I'm not gonna tell my proff and she'll never know any better! Ha!! So we are going to do that on Saturday after I get home from work. We did the first one at Tim Hortons and there is alot of background noise, so I think it'll be good that we do another one. (either at my apartment or hers) Then I get to do the glorious job of transcribing the hour+ interview (verbatim!). I wonder if there is something I can get off the internet that would allow me to plug the tape recorder in and a program of some sort put it into text. That would be great! (if anyone knows of any programs like that, let me know). I have to get ready for work and let Snowball out for a hop, so I'll write later..... :)

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Hello all!! I am supposed to work today, but I have a wack of work to do for school, so I don't think I'll go. I make up my hours next week sometime. Maybe Monday, my morning class is cancelled....hmmm.... I have to do my interview soon, I hope I can get ahold of Jackie. I lucked out and found a voice recorder at "the Source" for 19.99$ plus tax. I got 3 60min tapes at Zellers for 6$!! I was very excited, cause the cheapest one that I had found up until that point was 29.99$ plus tax. October is a pretty good month, but I have SO much stuff due in November I don't know if I'll be able to work. The money is nice to have, but I don't want to do poorly in school, just to have some extra cash. I work on Friday and Saturday this week. blah. I met with my seminar group last night, I think our seminar will be really good once we get everything pulled together. We are meeting again on Sunday to work on it again. Jackie just called and she has some time right now, so I'm going to go do my interview now.....wish me luck! .....write later

I went into work on Wednesday and had a pretty good night. I made 5 sales. Yesterday I went into work and made 5 sales again. We were calling in Virginia. The people there were really nice. Lots of people thanked me for calling, they weren't interested in the phone services I was selling but really appreciated the call (they told me). I had one guy tell me that I had a really nice voice and he enjoyed talking to me. He called me "hun" and told me I was sweet!! :) Lisa from my training class recently switched from day shift to night shift. I seen her last week, we sat together, and decided to go out Friday night. At 11pm when we got off, we walked to her house and drank and got ready. Later on Jennifer from quality arrived and later still, a couple of other girls arrived. We all headed to the 20/20 club. There was no cover and the music was good. We stayed until 2am, and then went in our separate directions. Lisa and I went back to her house, decided we weren't to tired and headed out again. We went to an after hours club called Fusion. The cover was $8.50!! We payed and went in. The music was good and we stayed until a little after 4am. We go to the coat check to get our sweaters (Lisa had lent me one). The coat check girl had given the sweater I had wore away! It wasn't that busy, I don't know how she could've gotten confused. She was rude to us and told us that we could leave our name and number and if it turned up she would have the manager call, that was it, she didn't even apologize. She said "I don't know what to tell you, it's not here". We walked back to Lisa's (grumbling the whole way about the rude coat check chick). Other than that we had a really good time though. I got home at about 4:40am and went to bed. I rolled over this afternoon about 12:45pm. I lazed around in my p.j's for awhile, Sam got home alittle after 2pm and laughed at me for still being in my p.j's. I'm really happy about having this Saturday off. Sam and I are going to have a big chicken dinner on Monday. He bought us two pumpkins to carve after dinner as well. At school my classes are all going well. This is the most laid back kind of semester I've ever had. Usually I am super stressed because proffs are piling on tons of work right away. Not this year though, it's refreshing! My flaky Gender studies proff just gets us to talk about our feelings and opinions on different topics, sometimes not even remotely related to gender studies. She is a quack! Sam is ridiculously obsessed with his game. He works, sleeps, and plays this game. I offered to take us to a movie tonight and he declined! He would rather sit in front of this computer and play his game constantly!! It has taken over his life! When he's not playing it, he talks about it. That is the only thing that he says to me now. I hope he gets bored with it or looses interest soon. Anyway..... I called Gill to see if she wanted to hang out today, but no one was home, so I'll try tomorrow (maybe alittle earlier). Jackie and I hung out shortly. We got a tea and went to Zellers and Sobey's. I finally invested in a good can opener!! I payed 15.99$ for this one and I'll cry if it breaks. I have no luck with can openers. (even ones with life time warantees!) Tomorrow I'll do what little school work there is to be done and relax. It will be great! :) I'm excited for Monday, this will be our first thanksgiving dinner together in our own place. We usually go to one our parents houses. Snowball is doing great. She jumps up onto the couch and hops around right next to me. She even hops onto me! I miss Gizmo, but I don't know if I would even have time to spend with her if she came up. We just cleaned our carpets as well, so she would make a messs of them again (even though she usually lets us know when she needs to go out, she still has accidents). I think she's pretty happy at mom and Richards anyway. Anyway....that's long enough of a post for today....write later..... :)

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

I've had a busy week. I went to work on last thursday instead of Friday so that I could attend a girls night at Anne and Mary Anne's. We watched the first two episodes of Grey's Anatomy. It was a good show, I had never watched it before. There were tons of girls there! Between the two of them there must have been 15. I'll never remember all the names. I seen Britany who used to live ub my building and a couple of girls I've had classes with, so it wasn't all new people. Saturday I went into work. Everyone had to work a 9 hour shift instead of an 8 hour cause apparently they were behind in hours. They told us that we would all get an extra 10$ bonus for logging 7 hours and then if the group of us met 1000 hours we would have $2000 to divide up between all the agents. At about 6:30pm they tell us that they just found out that we only get extra money if we meet the 1000 hours!! We were no were close to it by 6:30pm!! We all would have had to work until 9pm to even get anything extra!! We all just said screw it and went home at 7pm. Lisa from work gave me a drive home, she was coming up to the mall, so it wasn't out of the way. She also invited me to a mary kay party last night, but I was swamped with work. We are going to go out after work on Friday night to have a couple of drinks and dance. She was in my training class and I really liked her then, but she worked day shifts and I didn't see her anymore. She recently switched to nights and we sat next to each other on Saturday and had a nice conversation in between calls. It makes time go by so much faster when you have someone to talk to. I don't think she works tonight so I'll have to give her a call just to confirm our friday night plans. I work tonight. I am going to get my pictures done at the Superstore for much cheaper. I seen Anne the day that I was checking out info about pictures and we are going to go get our pictures done on the same day. We are planning on getting our hair done and just renting the robe thing together and sharing it. Turns out the pictures don't even have to be in until the February! We are going to get ours done in December when we are out for exams. This way they will be more recent. Anyway I gotta bust over to class......write later :)
