Holy Cow!! I do not want to join the RCMP!! What a load of bullshit that would be. I went to the information session last night. The recruitment process is ridiculous!! You start by taking a test, o.k good enough, then you get a one on one interview maybe a month or so later after they reviewed your test. After that you have to take a polygraph test to really check your honesty on the test and during the interview. You might hear back later on. When you are accepted to go to "Depot" the RCMP training camp, you have to fly out to Regina, Saskatchewan. You have to stay there for 6 months of ridiculous mental and physical traing (6 months!). You get NO pay during the 6 month training and have to provide your own personal items (they said on average it costs $2000-$5000), thats shampoo, toothpaste, gym clothes, laundry soap, etc. AND after you've finished this 6 months of intense, unpaid training there is no guarantee that you will be accepted into the RCMP!! How fucking crazy is that?!! OH!! and you have to be able to move anywhere in the country at any time during your service, by on call all the time, and work shift work! One of the presenters had been with the RCMP for 15 years at right now, he was working 4 10hour night shifts, then 3 days off, 4 nights on, etc. What shitty hours!! There are some upcoming career fairs and other information sessions that I'm going to go to. Well gotta go make some lunch.

They say there is no guarantee after you finish training, but almost every does get a job because it is pretty difficult to get into (and pass) the training. Its definitely not for everyone.
There's always the military...
Krista; I'm sure you'll find lots of options. But I don't think the RCMP sound like one of them. Good Luck with subletting your apartment. I hope you find someone soon!! Let me know how you make out this weekend!!

luv ya, Sue
The military? yeah right, the RCMP sounded interesting, for the work that you do. But the hours suck and having to transfer isn't for me. It had nothing to do with becoming a an officer or anything. No I think I'll steer clear of stuff like that.
