I called Jody this morning, I guess that everything is ready for me to start, but the Gleaner has started a new eary service delivery system. He said that it would be pointless and frustrating for me to start this week because I would just get alot of people complaining to me. People used to complain to me when I was down at the superstore last summer and it was really annoying, so if they are switching and he knows that people will be complaining I rather wait the week or possibly two to get it figured out. It's Friday today he said a week or two, so it won
't be this Wednesday, but maybe hopefully the next one. It is a pain to wait, but I make good money plus commission and I pick my own hours. I would never be able to get a job like that anywhere else. There isn't much available anyway (I do check the job banks). I'm taking an intersession course anyway, so I'm going to wait until June to find a full time job, I'll apply at the Delta call centre, it's right behind my apartment building. My friend got a job there and said that they do new training sessions all the time. Cendant is hiring, but they don't work in the same way as the one in SJ. I would have my shifts changing every week, and I wouldn't have seniority. It's across the river too, so I'd have to take a cab home. There are enough call centres that I'm sure I can find something. Jackie and I watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. I didn't really like it. They didn't do a very good jo b introducing the characters and I'm not sure if it was China or Japan and I didn't know what year it was taking place in until the movie was half over and they showd soldiers, I'm assuming in the 1940's, WWII. Sam and I rented King IKong two nights ago, but we rented it late and didn't watch it, a 3 hour movie. We are going to watch it tonight I think. Sam went out to Zellers to get his GST cheque cashed and then went over to gordie's pub for a beer. While there he was talking to a guy, turns out he is the kitchen manager of Mikes. Sam is going for an interview on Monday during his split. The guy said he would be guaranteed at leat 40 hours a week, they start their staff at more $ than Sam is making at the Hilltop (after his raise kicked in) and they get a cash tip out. The manager told Sam they were looking for a Weekend supervisor also, so Sam mentioned that he closes the kitchen on Mondays. I hope he gets offered the job. I don't know what the hours are at Mikes. Hopefully he wouldn't be working to late. Sams friend John and Steve already work there, so he wouldn't be starting with complete strangers. He has crazy luck. The other night he had no money, seen his friend Ryan (who owed him 4$), got the 4$, bought a coffee, and put the rest in a VLT machine, pulled out 40$.Last time he pulled out $300!! When he gets home we are going to get some groceries. He was supposed to get off at 2pm, I wonder where he is? I should probably do my young offenders online quiz thing, but I've got until next Wednesday to complete it, so maybe I'll wait til tomorrow. My corrections proff emailed the class and said that our final grades would be up on WebCT by next Wednesday. She was pretty quick. I don't know what to expect for that class, I didn't do very well on either midterms. Oh well, can't change it now.....I worked really hard on my final project/essay, so I think that will bring my mark up. I'm pretty sure I did well in my young offenders class, I didn't learn a damn thing in that class!! No, wait I learned alittle about the alternative measures programs that are being used in juvenile courts, but that's about it. Society and ecology I learned alot. There were some really interesting topics covered. Especially GMO's (genetically modified organisms). I learned enough in my modern theory class, but not to interesting, and my soc of communications class, wasn't taught well, didn't learn much, stuff that I did learn was mildly interesting. It's sad to think of how much money I'm paying, for the courses that are being offered, just to get a degree!! My intersession class is onlyu from 9-11:30am, so I can work in the afternoons. Well, I'm going to go make a coffee, write later...:)
