My appointment at the employment centre wasn't that great. The girl just looked at my resume, and gave a few tips on how to improve it, but I'm still no closer to a job. I applied at Lakeview Inns and Suites yesterday to be a guest service representative. It's a little farther than I had expected, but still pretty good. Today I have applied for a promotion thing for 2 days. This city sucks for jobs, there are no new jobs....especially not for students who just finished their 3rd year of university. Gizmo came to Fredericton with me when I returned on Wednesday. She doesn't know what to think of the bunny. She doesn't seem to want to hurt Snowball, but gets very anxious and starts whining when she goes around the cage. She got so obsessed with Snowball, that I finally moved her into the bedroom. Gizmo goes over to the door every little while to check to see if she can get in. Crazy!! Snowball goes right up to the cage bars and lets Gizmo look at her, stands up even. Come to think of it....I don't think she's ever seen a bunny before....She probably doesn't understand why she's in a cage. hmmm.....It's been pretty nice in Fredericton the last couple of days. Sam works until 9pm tonight, he's been getting some good shifts at work, he worked an extra 4 hours last night too. Jackie and I are going to go get a tea and go to Zellers when she gets off work at 7pm. She's worked 52 hours this week!! Crazy...I couldn't do that many hours. *Snaps* for Jackie :) I called Jody this morning and he pretty much told me that he wasn't going to try to get it going anymore, companies don't like the new payment system that the Gleaner is using. I told him I was looking for another job then, he said that it was a good idea. I applied at a wack of places in the mall before I went home, but still haven't heard back from anyone. Anyway I think I'm going to go make myself something to drink....maybe a white russian....mmmm.......

I just realized how long it has been since my last post!! Almost a week!! I just kept checking to see if anyone had commented. I came to SJ on Saturday, mom and Sue were nice enough to come up and get me. We went for lunch at Mikes, Sam was working, he suped up my star pizza!! He put little pieces of red pepper on all the tips!! I couldn't even finish the whole thing, it came with a dessert. We all split it and gave the rest of the salad and half a star pizza to Sam. I introduced Sue and Mom to Snowball. They liked her. Sam has been taking good care of her. I was talking to him today and he said he had cleaned out her whole cage for me. I'm going to bring Gizmo home with me (she is SO little now that she got her hair cut), I think they will be friends after their initial introduction to one another. I went to Giant tiger and got a wack of stuff! I bougth new ink cartridges and two giant pillows for my couch. I think it will look very nice, and be more comfy as well. I haven't been able to find any bunny treats, there are tons of stuff for cats and dogs, but not a heck of alot for bunnies. I had a dentist appointment today, he said that he wouldn't freeze my mouth to much, so that I could get something to eat and it wouldn't be uncomfortable. I left his office at 5:20pm, it's 9:17pm right now and it is only now that I can feel the side of my cheek. He said that I can just get my cleaning done in Fredericton and not have to come to SJ for it next month, which is good. That would have been a pain. I've gotten a couple of emails back about my applications to different businesses, thanking me for my interest. I'm remaining hopeful for the jewelery store to call, I'd like to work for a jewelery store. Tasha and I hung out this evening after my dentist appointment. It was really nice seeing her, we always try to get together when I'm down, but I'm usually not down this long, which makes it hard. Richard is going to drive me up to Freddy tomorrow morning, then I have an appointment at the student employment servuce in the afternoon. I'll write tomorrow or something.....

WooHoo!! I finally got a rabbitt!! I used to ask for a bunny all the time when I was younger, that and a dog..... I got Gizmo and now I have a bunny! Last Sunday I went over to the pet store with Sam, he looked at fish (like always) ans I noticed a cage with 3 rabbitts in it. There was very small white one bouncing around. She was pretty cute so I asked the man what her name was, she said they don't name the animals (b/c they get to attached to them) I named the rabbitt Snowball. All week I've been thinking about Snowball. I was talking to mom this afternoon and I told her about Snowball...she told me "aww..go get it...I'll give you $100 towards it. So I went over to the store to ask the lady if Gizmo would get sick or if Gizmo would make the bunny sick, I walked into the store and heard another woman say " I'd like to buy a rabbitt", so I ran over and told the girl that I wanted Snowball and would buy her right then (the other lady wanted a brown one anyway). So I came home assembled her (orange)rabbit "resort" and put her in. I was looking in the small animal guide and noticed the exact same cage in thecolor blue, I ranover and asked the pet store lady if I could exchange it for a blue one, it would go alot better in my house. She said yes and now I have a nice navy blue cage. It looks alot nicer. Tomorrow I'm going to hand out more resumes after my exam. Tomorrow is Thursday...we have ot go pick up Sams bike that he bought to. We'll do that after. I'm very excited about being done school, my webpage turned out alot better than the one I did for another class with the same proff. I hope for many things right now.....I hope I do well on my course....and I hope I can get a job soon. I think I'm going to go study for my exam right now...any comments are always appreciated!!
I've been passing out resumes like crazy!! The jobs in this city suck!! All the jobs pay shitty, there is nothing in this city that is available for a student who still has one year to go, even the jobs for graduates aren't all that great. I'm going to be stuck working at some job for shitty money or have to take shitty hours at a job that pays more. Jody has just started ignoring my messages and calls altogether, so I'm going to take the job that comes first, if I get hired somewhere (full time) I'll give him the kiosk back. If I get a part time job (which are the only ones available) I'll look for another one as well, if it comes up first I'll do the kiosk, if not and I get 2 part time I'm just going to drop off the kiosk to him. I applied at the jewelery store yesterday at the Regent mall. The owner said that he would be sure to call me when he starts setting up interviews, he sounded sincere, and I wouldn't mind working at a jewelery store..... I really enjoy jewelery, and the latest that I would work would be 9pm. I told him I was available for anything in the summer and I can give him my school schedule for the next year. He liked that I lived close by.....so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I wore my black dress pants and black blazer that I bought awhile ago. I'm glad I did cause all of the other ladies in the jewelery store had on dress clothes and blazers. I have my exam tomorrow and then I'm done!!! I really liked taking this class, it was interesting. I have a dentist appointment this Tuesday, I might go home alittle early and spend a couple days in SJ. I'll get Sam to keep an eye on the phone numbers to see if any possible employers call. Anyway I'm going to get a coffee....write later...

You people reading this Suck!!!! Comment!! Is it so hard to type an occasional "hi" or something? I've been checking to see if there were any comments posted....and time after time I've been disappointed. So disappoited that I completely forgot to post. It's been almost a week since my last post!! Anyway....Sam and I have bought a badmington set with 4 rackets and a wack of shuttles and we were at Canadian tire yesterday and seen some tennis rackets for a good price, so we each bought one and some tennis balls. We are all set for some good weather......waiting for the good weather, cause it's been raining.......alot. I past out some resumes yesterday. I applied at Reitmans in the Fredericton mall....they all (retail stores in general) ask if you have any retail experience....but...you can't get any experience...because no one will hire you. I have tomorrow off (which will be spent finishing my webpage), Tuesday I have class-webpage due and questions before the exam, and Wednesday is the actual exam. I think I'm going to come out of this class with a really good grade. 25% of our grade is on class attendance and participation, I haven't missed a day, 10% on our proposal, which I got an A- on, 40% on the webpage, and 25% on our final. I woke up with a rotten stomach ache this morning, it comes and goes all day... I took some TUMS, hopefully they will kick in soon. How are my readers doing? hmmm... I never hear from any of you, so how are you guys doing? Now...to let me know how your doing...simply click on the comment button and type away, sick, good, bad, anything..... :) Ha, now I might get a comment!! If I don't, I'll know that no one reads my blog, which I must say would sadden me a bit.......not for long.... I am a resilent person and would not let something like that get to me (for long).......but it would discourage me from writing. I check other peoples blogs lots, it is part of my habit. Mom posted once at the end of April and Sue is pretty slack as well. I made some carrot muffins with frosting on top, they taste very nice. I think I'm going to go make some soup or something to settle my stomach.....write later....

Yesterday was a great day!! It all started in the morning.....I walked out of the apartment and shut the door, turned around, and seen somethhing in the hallway, crumpled up. It turned out to be a 5$ bill!! That bought me a nice large cofffee and muffin in the morning. Then later I was craving ice cream, so Sam and I went to Sobeys and picked up a butter pecan crunch two litre for 3$. Sam suggested that we buy a frisbee, so we went and got one. We spent the entire afternoon outside throwing the frisbee around. It was beautiful in Freddy yesterday, we went out at 3 different times to throw it around. I sucked when we started.....but I improved alot. We are thinking about getting a set of badmington rackets as well. We had alot of fun. Sam switched date night to last night instead of Friday, so we went to a new restaurant called Hannah's (it's where the lobster hut used to be). The food was really good. Sam got a large fish and chips and I had a chicken/veg teriaki stir fry on rice. It was really good. I think we'll go to a movie next week, we haven't been to one in awhile. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :) I'm not feeling allt hat great today, I woke up with a headache and I can't seem to get rid of it. Anyway Ellen is on so I'm going to go watch that....comment!!

I had a good day today, I went to class, it was interesting....we watched a video on Noam Chomsky. I'm doing my website/research project on sexual assault and wrote a proposal for my project, I included info about Noam Chomsky in my proposal. I just looked online and seen my grade, I got an A-!! He does everything online, he wrote comments on our proposals as well, he wrote "excellent beginning; the topic is a good one, looking at the portrayal of sexual assault in the media; there is also a preliminary analysis; great job!". Woohoo!! I did a great job! With an ! point. Nothing better than that!! hehe. I seen the guy that lent my money today, we talked and I found out his name is Billy. I've seen him in a couple of my classes, I just told him that I'm horrible with names. I downloaded the program Wikipedia to design my webpage, I think it will be alot easier than using Frontpage like I did last time. I called Jody yesterday and I he told me that Canadian Tire is screwing him around as well, they switched their payment system and it's harder to get the gift certificates, he also told me that he hired another person, one minute he said that he had hired her for Monday and Tuesday (when I don't work) and the next he was saying she would work with me on busy days. I think he got confused, because there is no way in hell that you need two people to stand behind a 2' x 4' kiosk. He then started saying that I might be back at the Superstore, which is downtown. I looked online and found a job that I am going to apply for. It pays the same and the hours are better. It's downtown, but I have a free buspass through school, so it doesn't matter to much. I'm going to apply, see what happens, and if that happens before the Gleaner thing, I'll tell Jody that he can give the other girl my hours as well. Whatever....he can't expect people to wait a month and a half for their jobs to start. I wonder which semester this intersession grades go on? hmmm....... I'm not sure if they include it in last semesters grades or next semesters. Sam and I walked downtown yesterday to go to Revenue Canada to get our taxes done, get help with them anyway, he had told me that it was downtown and I double checked with him and everything. He sounded so assured of it I didn't feel the need to ask anything more about it. So...we walked, all the way downtown...walk into service the new brunswick building and he asks the woman sitting at the desk where in the building revenue Canada is!! Turns out that it is uptown on Prospect street. So...we walked all the way back up the hill!! He told me that revenue Canada building uin Saint John is at the service NB building......so he assumed it would be the same!! :) crazy man!! If nothing else, it was a nice walk and it was really nice out yesterday...not to hot, but not to cold. He brought a nice pesto Chicken pizza home today, it was really good. Sam is making bread for some reason, we have lots, strange.....write later....

Monday, May 08, 2006

Saturday wasn't to busy, I didn't do a heck of alot, it was nice. Sam and I hung out and went for a couple of walks when he got off work. I lov ehim working days. We're spending so much time together. He was working all the time at the Hilltop that I had forgotten how much I enjoy his company. He has today, tomorrow, and Wednesday off. He's going stir crazy just thinking about it!! He actually got called into work for this afternoon. He's working 4-10pm. I told him that he can't make it a habit working nights though. But picking up the hours brought him up to 40hrs this week. A guy called him last week to pick up a shift as well, so he got an extra 4hrs last week. He told me that he put his number on the schedule saying that he would take and all shifts, crazy!! He really likes working there. I'm glad that he's working at a place where he is happy at the end of the night, unlike the Hilltop. My class is going well. I wrote a proposal for my project yesterday, I'm doing my project on sexual assault and the media distortion of it. From what I've found it looks very interesting, and luckily enough, we are doing some classes on the same topic! :) Sunday was the INXS concert, Lisa and Anthony came to the apartment for a BBQ, but our little tank ran out!! We ended up having our steaks on the flattop./grill thing mom bought Sam and I for X-mas. It was very good, Sam cooked. Lisa had also invited two of her friends to come over and hang out before the concert, it was really nice. I hope they can come up in the future(maybe by then we can actually have a BBQ!!) Lisa's friend, Jay was funny, a real INXS fan if there ever was one, had a hat and t-shirts!! It was really nice getting to see Lisa, hardly get to see her anymore!! I baked a chocolate cake for a treat, I've had this crazy craving for something sweet. We didn't have anything to make a cake or cupcakes a couple of days ago, but we did have marshmellows. Ah...marshmellows.....no rice krispies, but we did have raison bran cereal, so I made raison bran granola bars, they were really good. I definately will make them again, ah......I'm taking a hint form Sam and experimenting...so far so good.:) I've got to do some assignment for class tonight though.....taking one class in a month instead of 3 months is kind of intense, Professors really make up for the work that you don't have from other classes by having lots for their classes!! It's an interesting class though, so I don't mind to much. I gave that guy 3$ for the $2 he lent me on Thursday.....he didn't say much.Hmm....oh well.OH!! Sam and I were in Winners today and i seen a woman who was going to buy this large bright pink suit case for $89.99, I look through the flyers alot, asked her if she was going on a big trip....she laughed and told me she was going to Hawaii. I told her that I had just seen in this weeks flyer that Canadian Tire was selling a 3 piece suit case set for $39.99 and she could sve some money. She thanked me and said she would go next door and get them there instead. I felt very nice about saving someone money. I know I always enjoy when I'm given a good tip on a sale for something~!!:) Anyway I'm going to go get a tea or something, write later.....comment!!

Today has already been pretty exciting. I went to class this morning, had a coffee with me (I bring my own in the morning). Later when we ahd a break at about 10am, I went to Tims on campus to get another one. I realized I had no money and went to the abm to take some out. Well there is a $1.50 charge to use the one at school, and I like even $20's in my account, all I had was $20, so I couldn't take any money out. I seen a guy, I completely forget his name, but i know him from a couple of classes and the current class I'm taking. I was rummaging through my purse and asked him if Tims takes debit....he said no, and handed me a toonie for coffee!! How nice is that!? I'm going to give him $3 on Monday when classes resume. Nothing in this world is free and random acts of kindness deserve to be rewarded. :) I was walking home from school after class ended and I said to myself, "Krista, where is your purse?". I had forgotten my purse hanging on the back of the door in the bathroom at school. I ran, like a bat out of hell, back to school, ran into the bathroom and couldn't find my purse! Another lady was there, and she asked me what I was looking for, I told her my purse. She said "oh, I've lost 2!". That is not something you say to someone that is panicked baout loosing their purse and all of their I.D. She asked me what class I had been in, I ran into the class, and looked in the isle I had been sitting, it wasn't there! I went back into the hall, we seen some guy and he asked us what was going on, I told him I had lost my purse. I was ocmpletely out of breath from having run there. I went back into the bathroom to check again. It wasn't there, I left, and the guy had just come out of the classroom holding my purse!! He said "is this it?", I ran over and hugged him, he laughed at me, I thanked him and asked him his name, he said "Ron", I hugged him again and said "thank you Ron, you saved me alot of time, energy and money." What a day. I had gotten a new purse, at the Giant Tiger. (Sue also got the same one) It is a shoulder purse, and I've done really well not leaving it anywhere, but I had remembered hanging it up in the bathroom because I had left to go to the bathroom during class, AND after class.I had hung it up the first time, but left it in the room the second time. What a relief it was to see him come out holding my purse. I only have 14 full days of school left, not including weekends. It's a beautiful day in Fredericton today, Sam and i are going to have a BBQ tonight. Anyway I'm going to go make something to eat....write later....

I called Jody early this morning, he wasn't in, so I left a message telling him that I really need to start working soon. I said that my money is running out and I need to start working. I went to class, came home at about 11:30am and called him again at 12pm. He was out again. He called me back at about 1:30pm and apologized. He said that they were having to much trouble trying to get the coupons (for when people subscribe with me) for Zellers. He said that he knew I wanted to be uptown, so he had arranged for the kiosk to be at Canadian Tire, which is just as close as Zellers. He said that I can start tomorrow!! He will call me in the morning or I can call when I'm done school. I don't know how busy it will be at Canadian tire though. Actually....come to think of it.....alot of men were the ones who took the two weeks free that I was offering last summer. I don't care, I'll be working. For my crime and media class, there are only four things that we are graded on, 1) a proposal 2) attendance and class exercises 3) a webpage designed on the topic we wrote the proposal on, and 4) a final essay type exam. I have to pick a topic for my proposal soon though, it's due Monday, May 8th. I'm not to sure what kind of topics he is looking for, I'll have to talk to him tomorrow. Sam is really enjoying work at Mikes. He said he had another great day today. He made dinner again tonight, we had cheese stuffed chicken with bbq sauce, chicken fried rice, and a cheesy potato bake thing that he came up with. He's always making up his own recipes, luckily they (usually) turn out well. Whenever we have cheese in the fridge, he puts it in everything!! A big brick never lasts us more than a 5-7 days.(we shred it up and freeze it in a couple zip lock bags) I really like him working days, not just because he's cooking dinner all the time, but it's nice to have him home. He rented the movie neoflux, we are going to watch that soon. He traded in the Crash bandacoot game that mom had given us (the only one I like to play) for a blockbuster credit to rent the movie!! Didn't even tell me where he was going!! I was on the computer and he said "bye hun" and left, I didn't know where he went or what he was doing. Jerk!! I've only played it twice, but still, it was the only game I had any interest in. Anyway....we're going to watch the movie....write later

I had my crime and media class this morning. I think it will be interesting enough. The text books sound interesting to read. There are chapters on serial murderers, sexual assaults, domestic violence, etc. We have a proposal due next Monday for our main project, which, like his historical reactions class, is a webpage. I'll just work harder on this one. It's supposed to be a 2 1/2 hour class, but we only stayed for an hour this morning, just an introduction to the class and what will be required. I paid the rest of my course today, and my rent is also due, this is putting a big dent in my bank account. Oh well, I'm hoping to hear from Jody today, he said he would call me and let me know what's going on. He said that I should be back to work this Wednesday. I'm going to ask him if it's alright if I work a couple extra hours for the month of May while I'm in school. He didn't really seem to care much last summer. I started working only 15-18 hours a week, but I was filling out my own time thing, so I eventually worked up to 21 hours and he never said anything. I called around to see about drivers education, I'm interested in getting my license. I've had my permit for a few years and I want my license now. I've gotten prices from young drivers, $629 + tax and A plus drivers education, which is $493 taxes included. What a huge difference, and they both include the same amount of driving time and class time. I'm waiting to hear from First Rate driving. I think I'll have to wait until I'm back to work for awhile though. Maybe I'll take one in August. I want to do it in the summer. I wouldn't want to learn in the winter, I think it would be harder. I'm going to go get a coffee and Tims, write later....Comment people!! :)

Mom let me know about all these different options for your blog cause she made one for herself. Lisa made mine and emailed it to me in first year (which I appreciated) :) and now I've changed my format and added pictures and stuff. It's pretty neat to see all the features that I didn't know about. This is an old picture of Sam and I (august 2005) but I like it. Anyway I'm going to go check out the other options and stuff....make some lunch too....write later

I went to the health centre and didn't have to wait to long. I arrived a little before 9am, and there were people already there!! I thought I'd be the first one. The nurse told me to come back at 9:45am, so that gave me enough time to go get a coffee. Sam started at Mikes yesterday morning. The kitchen manager wanted him to train with the breakfast cook. The breakfast cook was impressed with Sams work and mentioned it to the kitchen manager (who then told Sam). He had a really nice first day. We then had all day to spend together. It was nice. We went for a walk, it was beautiful in Fredericton yesterday. We had supper together, which we never do usually (he cooked). :) We both went to bed a decent time, he used to stay up late playing his game cause he didn't work until later in the day. I like him working early shifts!! :) My friend Karen called us last night and invited us to a party Tomorrow night. It will be nice to see her. I haven't seen her since our exams. Sam and I had fun at her last party, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm wearing one of my fun/flowy skirts today. Pat said that I look very nice today. The only thing about wearing this skirt is that I wear my dress sandles with it, which look nice, but as a result my feet are freezing!! Oh well, there are worse things than cold feet. It is a nice outfit, so it's worth it. I called Jody this morning and he said that his bosses are still giving him the run around with the kiosk thing, but I should be doing it by next Wednesday. It's really frustrating. I looked online, for about 2hrs, at every job bank I could think of, and there's nothing there!! Not a decent job amongst the lot. It's ridiculous, most of them don't start until June or co-op/ summer placements aren't even available to apply for until May. I'm going to work as many hours as I can at the kiosk (when it gets started) for the month of May, while I'm taking the class, and then (hopfully) get another full time in June. I'm probably gonna have to work at a call centre though.ugh.....oh well, it pays well enough. Anyway I'm going to go make a coffee....write later

Sunday, April 23, 2006

I came to Saint John to visit for a little while before I start intersession. Mom came up and visited on Thursday, and spent the night. Sam made a really nice dinner on Thursday for us. On Friday we went to the mall for awhile and I actually found some nice stuff. Suzy Sheir were having some crazy promotion, so I got 20% off of all my purchases and a free prestige card. I finally used the gift certificate that Sam gave me for my Birthday and bought a beige color jacket that I'm quite fond of. I got some new tops and a couple fun skirts. We left Fredericton around 4pm and home at about 5:30pm on Friday. Mom and Richard went to some hockey banquet and i went over to Sue's house for fajitas, pina coladas, and wine. Sue had invited her friend Kathie as well. We all had a really nice time drinking and playing games. We played the dice game ten thousand a few times. We sat up and watched T.V for a bit and then went to bed. Sue will laugh when she reads this, but she has a really comfortable bed. It's got a nice cushiiony top, its wonderful!! :) Sue and I made pancakes and sausages this morning for breakfast. I had been craving pancakes for the last week, but Sam wouldn't make them for me and I was to lazy until today. :) Sam is supposed to be coming down tomorrow, if he can get off early enough to catch the 5:50pm bus. If not he can catch the 6:30am bus on Tuesday. It will be nice too see him. He's going to stay with his family until Tuesday night and on Wednesday mom is going to drive us back up to Freddy. Sam starts work at mikes at 8am on Thusday. The stupid student health centre stopped booking appointments and now it is just a walk in service. I've got to go do that at 9am on Thursday, which I'm not looking forward to. I start intersession next Monday, I'm still not sure when that payment is due. Come to think of it, I have to call the registrars office, I got a letter on Friday saying that I had gotten a millenium bursary for a couple hundred and that it would be on my january 2006 account. I'm not to sure how that works, january has passed and my account has been paid up for awhile. HMM......;) maybe I'll go and check that out on Thursday, since I'm already on campus. Lisa and Anthony came over tonight for supper. It was nice seeing them, I usually don't get a chance to, they are so busy and my visits are quite sporatic, makes it hard to plan anything. They both are looking good and excercising. They actually left as we were pulling into the driveway to go play tennis (and returned for supper later). Anthony was wearing the pants I got him for x-mas, it is always nice to see that a present you give is being used and not just sitting in a drawer or in a closet.:) I think I need to get contacts or something soon. I've been finding things just a touch more blurry than they used to be lately. I went and got fitted for a pair so I could get enhancer contacts one summer, I still have a pair in the package, but they are hard to get in. I think I'll practice with those ones before I order new ones. I'm going to call Jody on Wednesday when I get back, it's been two weeks and I should be back to work this week. It should be ready!! I've waited long enough!! I'm going to do that while I'm taking my class in May and then get a Full time job as well in June. I can make my own hours with the gleaner job, so I'm hoing I have decent hours at the other job, hopefully my days off will be on Wed, Thurs, Fri, or Sat 9when I'm supposed to do the gleaner. I can work more hours on those days and less on the days that I'm doing both. I'm hoping I can save money for my tuition and pay my monthly bills. The Delta call centre is right next door to my apartment, I'm hoping I can get on there, but I never see any ads. I think I'll just drop a resume off mid May and see what happens. I would rather do something related to my degree, but there isn't much for students of soc and crim, not until you graduate. Which, I must say is kinda dumb, wouldn't they want people to have some experience working with young offenders or the social services than graduates, who because they weren't graduates, didn't have the chance to work in the sector at all before they graduated? Anyway, I'm not to sure how that works. There are opportunites in the fourth year, I think you apply in October for 2 year term jobs (that start in May). I'm going to apply for as many of them as a I can. I'm hoping that I can get one in Fredericton. Sam and I like living there. I'm not to sure when our final grades come out, if anyone knows (Jackie) let me know too. I think I'm going to see what is on T.V, write later....

I'm DONE!! Finito!! All my exams are now finished. I only had 3, but now they are all done. I think I did well on my society and ecology one that I had today. She handed back some stuff, I got a better mark on a book review that I did (on a book that I didn't read) than on the nuclear power project that I worked really hard on. Whatever. I think I did well on the exam. I wrote alot of information for all of the questions. My essay was four pages, and my short answer ones were 2-3 pages. I figure I'll come out wtih a B+ or an A-. My modern theory I think I'll get an A-. I did really well in that class. I knew my stuff too!! I got an A- on the midterm and a B+ on the other test, I think I'll get a good mark on my final too. I'm off for two weeks until my intersession course starts. Oh...I got an email on Friday that I had recieved a faculty fund award. It was some bursary that I had applied for awhile back and had completely forgotten about. I went to pick it up today and it turned out to be a $350.00 cheque!! That is my rent for May!! Actually I'm going to go pick up the coffee and end table set that I put on lawaway. I love free money!! It's so wonderfully free!! I'm going to give Jody a call today. See if my job is back yet. Mom is going to come up and visit on Thursday! We are going to spend the day together and she is going to crash here for the night. Then on Friday she and the puppy ): are going back to SJ. I've lost track of how long Gizmo's been here...I'm going to miss her, she's great company. At least Sam will be starting his new job shortly after, and he'll be working less for the first while, so I'll still have some company. Woohoo schools done!! ah...school...finished....finally...:) It's really windy up here today. I'm glad that I wore a jacket this morning. I trimmed Gizmo's face fur down alot, she looks really different. Her nose is very noticeable now. She looks nice. Anyway I'm going to check online to see if anyone has offered to buy my old coffee table set....I have to get rid of it soon, I have no where to put it. ...write later...

I had 2 exams on Wednesday. I think I did great on them!! For both of them we had a review sheet, so that was helpful. My theory proff made us write an essay talking about a whole book, but I think I did well enough on that one, and then, out of the 6 questions she gave us to study from, she picked 3 of them and then we had a choice of which 2 out of 3 we wanted to do. AND out of those three, there were the two that I had worked really hard on and knew really well. For my communications exam I knew about as much as I could, he didn't teach very well. I've heard that he marks on how much he likes you, which is possible, I had him for deviance last year and I came out with a B+ and didn't wrok to hard. This term I always talked to him outside of class, and he was always really friendly toward me (I think that was because I am one of the few names he can remember). I seen him at the liquer store yesterday, he got a wack of stuff. He was friendly toward me there too. Jackie, Sam and I all drank for awhile at my place. We started drinking at 6pm!! :) We were playing some dice game we found on the internet. A group of us all went out to Dolan's last night. I invited my friend Kim and her boyfriend Trevor. Kim and Trevor came and met Jackie and I at the bus stop. We all took the 10:30pm bus down to Julias to drink for awhile. Julia invited her friend Cindy out too. I had alot of fun. I don't have my next exam until Tuesday, so I'm taking today off. I'll study tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday, but it's the one where we can bring the cheat sheet so I don't think it will take to long. I made a cake today, it's cooling as I'm writing. I love cake!! :) It's so sweet and delicious!! I think I'll go ice it and have a piece right now!! Write later....:)

Sam did get offered the job!! He told the manager that he needed 2 weeks, to give notice at the Hilltop before he could start, and she told him that she preferred it that way!! He came home and told me at about 3pm, I printed him up a resignation letter, and he went in and handed it to Jim. He came home later and told me that Jim kept trying to discourage him, saying stuff like "what if you don't like it, or what if it doesn't work out...etc". Jerk!! I had told Sam not to tell him where he was going to work, but Sam let it slip that he was going to Mikes. Jim will probably try to wreck it for him!! Sam said that the Kitchen manager at Mikes had worked for Jim before and knows what he's like though. He has alot of power in this city, if a person applies at a job, the kitchen managers call Jim and tell him to see if it is ok to hire them, if Jim doesn't want them to, they don't . It's ridiculous!! He'll be getting less hours to start, but making more $, so it won't change his pays to much. The manager told him he could wait until the hours pick up in May if he wanted to. Sam told her he didn't mind at all and he would start the end of April. :) He just wants ot get out of the hilltop. I'm going to study my but off for my mod sociology theory and sociology of communications exams. I hace communications at 9am and then mod theory at 2pm. I'm going to take a couple days off, not study at all cause I have 6 days before my next exam, and its the one where we can bring in a cheat sheet, so not really study, but answer the questions as well as possible. I can't wait for school to be over. I didn't get much done yesterday, like I jad planned, but I worked on stuff all day on Sunday. Sam called me on Sunday evening and invited me to go out with him and some other people at the hilltop. He came home an dgot me, and we went back to the hilltop to meet the rest of them, then we all took a cab down to Nickyzees, they had beer on for $2.75, so I bought a couple. Sam had bought me some at the hilltop too. After we were there a while we left and wnt to BOOM. Melissa bought me a beer and paid for my cover. She's a really nice person to party with, not just cause she bought me stuff, but just has a very happy attitude. So yesterday I felt like shit all day, my stomach was so upset, I didn't get much done. I did get some of my mod theory questions done, so now I only have 3 more to do and study, not to hard either. My soc of communications exam is going to be brutal , he marks so weird. Anyway I'm going to go jump in the shower and get dressed....write later.....:)

I called Jody this morning, I guess that everything is ready for me to start, but the Gleaner has started a new eary service delivery system. He said that it would be pointless and frustrating for me to start this week because I would just get alot of people complaining to me. People used to complain to me when I was down at the superstore last summer and it was really annoying, so if they are switching and he knows that people will be complaining I rather wait the week or possibly two to get it figured out. It's Friday today he said a week or two, so it won
't be this Wednesday, but maybe hopefully the next one. It is a pain to wait, but I make good money plus commission and I pick my own hours. I would never be able to get a job like that anywhere else. There isn't much available anyway (I do check the job banks). I'm taking an intersession course anyway, so I'm going to wait until June to find a full time job, I'll apply at the Delta call centre, it's right behind my apartment building. My friend got a job there and said that they do new training sessions all the time. Cendant is hiring, but they don't work in the same way as the one in SJ. I would have my shifts changing every week, and I wouldn't have seniority. It's across the river too, so I'd have to take a cab home. There are enough call centres that I'm sure I can find something. Jackie and I watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. I didn't really like it. They didn't do a very good jo b introducing the characters and I'm not sure if it was China or Japan and I didn't know what year it was taking place in until the movie was half over and they showd soldiers, I'm assuming in the 1940's, WWII. Sam and I rented King IKong two nights ago, but we rented it late and didn't watch it, a 3 hour movie. We are going to watch it tonight I think. Sam went out to Zellers to get his GST cheque cashed and then went over to gordie's pub for a beer. While there he was talking to a guy, turns out he is the kitchen manager of Mikes. Sam is going for an interview on Monday during his split. The guy said he would be guaranteed at leat 40 hours a week, they start their staff at more $ than Sam is making at the Hilltop (after his raise kicked in) and they get a cash tip out. The manager told Sam they were looking for a Weekend supervisor also, so Sam mentioned that he closes the kitchen on Mondays. I hope he gets offered the job. I don't know what the hours are at Mikes. Hopefully he wouldn't be working to late. Sams friend John and Steve already work there, so he wouldn't be starting with complete strangers. He has crazy luck. The other night he had no money, seen his friend Ryan (who owed him 4$), got the 4$, bought a coffee, and put the rest in a VLT machine, pulled out 40$.Last time he pulled out $300!! When he gets home we are going to get some groceries. He was supposed to get off at 2pm, I wonder where he is? I should probably do my young offenders online quiz thing, but I've got until next Wednesday to complete it, so maybe I'll wait til tomorrow. My corrections proff emailed the class and said that our final grades would be up on WebCT by next Wednesday. She was pretty quick. I don't know what to expect for that class, I didn't do very well on either midterms. Oh well, can't change it now.....I worked really hard on my final project/essay, so I think that will bring my mark up. I'm pretty sure I did well in my young offenders class, I didn't learn a damn thing in that class!! No, wait I learned alittle about the alternative measures programs that are being used in juvenile courts, but that's about it. Society and ecology I learned alot. There were some really interesting topics covered. Especially GMO's (genetically modified organisms). I learned enough in my modern theory class, but not to interesting, and my soc of communications class, wasn't taught well, didn't learn much, stuff that I did learn was mildly interesting. It's sad to think of how much money I'm paying, for the courses that are being offered, just to get a degree!! My intersession class is onlyu from 9-11:30am, so I can work in the afternoons. Well, I'm going to go make a coffee, write later...:)

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

I wrote a pretty big post on Monday, but for whatever reason it didn't load up right or something. So , I'll write a this new one. I got all of my papers done!! I finished my corrections one, which turned out to be a good, solid 10 pages, even though she only asked for 6. There was to much information. I also finished my soc of communications essay. It turned out really well, but is only 7 1/2 pages, supposed to be 10-15. Oh well I've been short before and he's still given me an A. I did this one on Reality TV. I never realized just how many shows were considered reality. 1/2 of all Ameican programming is of Reality tv!! Canadian's watch alot of Amercan tv. I watch enough of them. I also did some reseearch on the ways that reaality tv is faked. Contestants on these shows have to sign a wack of waivers, so if they are represented incorrectly, they can't do much about it. my corrections one I already had most of it done, just had to make sure the formatted was right. I also hav eto do a young offenders quiz online sometime this week, but not tonight. Jackie and I are going to celebrate the last of classes by watching memoirs of a Geisha. We had planned on going to see it in theatres together, but it left before we got a chance. We were thinking about going out, but Last Class Bash we probably wouldn't get in anywhere or if we did it would be uncomfortably packed. We might go out tomorrow, but I'm still unsure about those plans. I'm going to call Jody when I get home to see if I can start work soon, those gift certificates should be in be now. What a slacker!! I have 2 more classes left and I'll be done!! Well only until May 1st, I'm taking that intersession class to get the credits, but that is only until May 25th. Then I'm goihng to look for another job. 30-35 hours at one and then do the kiosk thing for 15-20. My intersession class, just one, is going to cost me close to $500.00!! Well it will with the books. Actually I was talking to my friend Karen in class on monday and it turns out she is taking the same class, then while we were talking a girl beside us offered to sell both of her books for $30!! I jumped on that!! She had them with her and they are in really good condition. The class is called Crime and the media. I figure I know enough about crime from all my CRIM classes and I am taking a communications class this semeseter, I don't think I'll have any trouble. I the same proff for my historical reactions. I got A's and B's on everything, I'll just have to work harder on the webpage, which was worth alot and I only spent an afternoon doing. I went to my corrections class this morning, and the proff had set up coffee and cookies for the students. So I got a free coffee in that class, a cookie, and a couple timbits, and then I went to the cafeteria and I had a free one there too!! Free stuff is so nice! I hope there are no more sdtupid presentations in my next class, they are done well, (most of them), but eally aren't the best way to spend an entire class. I got my reivew for my society and ecology exam yesterday, which is really the proff given us the questions that will be on the exam, ones an essay question that incorporates everything we have done into it, but the others are just short answer. Get this, We are ALLOWED to bring in a cheat sheet!! We're allowed!! Both sides of a regular piece of papaer can hav info on it. We can write as small as we want, it just can't be type written or photocopied. I think I'll do well in that class. I also think that I will do well in my modern theory class. Who knows how i'll do in Communications, he's such a weird marker, but oh well. It's raining/sprinkling out up here today, it was beautiful on Monday, but yesterday and today haven't been as nice. Anyway I'm going to go downstairs to my class and then it will only be on more to go!! :)
